Early Intervention Pathway
Our Early Intervention Pathway has been designed to support children who are yet to commence primary school and require support from one or more allied health professionals at Peninsula Plus. It is currently offered with our Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists.
The aim of the Early Intervention Pathway is to:
- provide targeted supports to children and families in a timely manner.
- use targeted assessment to determine future skill development and capacity building needs.
- link families with specialised services and mainstream supports both within Peninsula Plus and the wider community.
- develop the capacity of each child’s caregiver to support the child’s development across their home and community environments.
- provide families with a report to support initial application for NDIS funding, or to provide ongoing evidence for the need for future NDIS funding.

How does the EI Pathway work?
A block of 8 sessions will be booked initially and your clinician will collaborate with you to determine how these sessions may be used.
You will receive a comprehensive assessment and therapy plan, which may include up to 4 direct therapy sessions, caregiver coaching, and/or link to another more suitable program.
Who is it for?
Children aged between 0 to 6 years old who have not yet started primary school and have any or all of the following:
- Two or more developmental concerns across communication, motor skills, play, social interactions and/or learning.
- Significant meltdowns/challenging behaviour.
- School transition concerns.
- Parent/caregiver experiencing difficulties or high levels of concern.
Who is it not for?
Children who have already accessed assessment and/or individual therapy supports at Peninsula Plus.
Please note: If the child has only accessed our group programs, they are still eligible for the Early Intervention Pathway as this offers a different model of supports.
