Emily holds a joint degree in BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Speech Pathology from Manchester Metropolitan University, obtained in 2012. She began her career in research before transitioning to a hospital setting within the UK health system (NHS), specialising in stroke rehabilitation for both inpatients and outpatients.
After relocating to Mauritius, Emily recognised the limited availability of speech and language therapy work with children and established her own speech therapy practice, supporting numerous children through therapy sessions, parent guidance, and workshops. To support a wider community, she collaborated closely with charities, schools, and an Autism diagnosis service.
In 2018, Emily furthered her education by completing an MSc in Applied Psychology at Middlesex University. Upon returning to England in 2020, she pursued additional training as an Elklan Tutor and completed the Manchester Post Basic Dysphagia training. Concurrently, Emily worked in a residential setting for Autistic young people and people with social-emotional and mental health difficulties.
Emily enjoys working across all areas of speech and language development. Her key skills lie in early intervention, developmental language disorders, Autism and the cultivation of emotional literacy skills. She now brings her wealth of knowledge and experience to our team at Pen Plus, serving as Team Leader on a full-time basis.
Outside work Emily enjoys trail runs/walks and when she can find the time loves to get out her sewing machine!
