Is Tele Practice for you?

It has been a crazy couple of weeks, with the changes implemented because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic forcing us to review every part of our lives.  We’ve changed the way we shop, the way our kids go to school and even how we greet each other.

The world of speech and occupational therapy is not immune from this change and, like many allied health practices, we have moved quickly to enable Telehealth so that we can support those clients who can’t or choose not to come into the clinic.

Our clinics are still open – we are not trying to rush everybody to Telehealth.  We have instituted an even more rigorous hygiene practice and observe social distancing guidelines.  With these practices in place, we intend to keep our clinics open unless tighter requirements are put in place by the government.

That said, the community response to COVID-19 is going to be with us for some time with things likely to get even more challenging before they get better.  This could include tougher restrictions on social distancing and more of us becoming unwell with the virus.

Consistency is incredibly important to ensure that speech and OT goals are achieved.  The best tool we have available in this COVID-19 world to ensure consistency is Telehealth as this allows our clinicians to continue working with our clients even when they can’t be in the clinic.

We are using a Telehealth service called Coviu.  This service provides a high performance, fully secure environment to conduct video calls between clinicians and clients.  It does not require any special software to be installed and can be accessed from any computer, laptop, iPad or tablet that has internet access.  This service is available to our clients with no additional change to session fees.

Of course, running a session via Telehealth is going to be a little different than our usual face to face sessions.  If, or when, you need to move to Telehealth to keep consistently working towards therapy goals, our team will be there with you every step of the way.

Learn more and get yourself ready by having a chat with your practitioner at your next session or call the clinic to talk with our customer service team.

These are definitely unprecedented times, but the Peninsula Speech Plus team is always here to help you achieve your goals.
