occupational therapy
Our Occupational Therapists help individuals of all ages to take part in what is important to them, like play, work, self-care, and social interactions. We support people and their families in building skills, overcoming barriers, and advocating for their inclusion in meaningful daily activities. Our approach celebrates each person’s uniqueness and strengths, ensuring they feel empowered and supported in all areas of life.
what we help with
Fine Motor Skills: Small hand and finger movements, such as holding a pencil to draw or write, using cutlery, or tying shoelaces.
Gross Motor Skills: Large body movements, such as riding a bike, jumping, climbing, running, or playing sports.
Social Skills: Communicating, playing, and working with others, such as making friends, participating in group activities, or understanding differences in perspectives.
Self-Care Skills: Managing daily tasks like dressing, brushing teeth, using the toilet, eating, and drinking.
Emotional Regulation: Understanding, managing, and expressing emotions, such as recognising feelings, using calming strategies, and problem-solving.
Sensory Processing: How the brain understands and responds to sensory information, like sounds, touch, or movement. Strategies can help with focus, comfort, and regulation when overwhelmed (e.g. bothered by loud noises) or under-responsive (e.g. not noticing when touching something hot).
Community Participation: Taking part in daily life activities, such as going to the shops, catching public transport, joining social groups, or participating in school or work routines.
our approach
At Peninsula Plus, we believe therapy is a team effort. Our Occupational Therapists work closely with individuals, caregivers, and support networks to promote meaningful and independent living.
We take the time to understand each person’s unique strengths, challenges and goals. With this in mind, we create personalised support plans that support success in daily activities – whether it’s getting dressed, playing, working or joining in the community. Using fun, practical and evidence-based strategies, we help build skills within daily routines, and guide those supporting the client to incorporate these strategies across different settings for ongoing success.
Our goal is simple: to help each person feel confident, capable, and included in their daily lives, no matter the challenges they face. Together, we build skills, overcome challenges, and achieve meaningful goals.

Early Intervention Pathway
how we work
In most circumstances, we will support you by:
Initial Client/Caregiver Interview
The OT gathers information about the client’s history, goals, and support needs.
Assessment
Depending on individual needs, assessments may be informal (observations and interactions) or formal (standardised testing and structured assessments) to better understand strengths and challenges.
Assessment Review and Feedback
The OT prepares a detailed report on assessment findings, which will be shared with you and relevant support teams (e.g., teachers, caregivers, or other health professionals, with your consent). A feedback session will outline the key points and next steps.
Goal Setting
We collaborate with families and clients to set meaningful, personalised goals for therapy and/or other supports.
Therapy Planning and Support
Based on the assessment and goals, support options are provided to suit the client’s needs. This may involve one-on-one sessions, group therapy, parent/carer coaching, school-based support, or home practice activities to support development.
Therapy Evaluation and Goal Review
The OT checks progress with the client/caregiver, adjusts goals if needed, and plans the next steps.

accessing occupational therapy services
We accept funding through the NDIS and Medicare (Chronic Disease Management Plans, children with complex neurodevelopmental conditions). Clients can also choose to pay out of pocket and may be eligible to claim a rebate through their private health insurance provider.
